| I
was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin on September 17, 1974. I moved
to Naperville, IL in 1980 and then to McMurray, PA in 1982.
I moved back to Illinois in 1986 and have been living in Winfield
ever since.
I tried to go to Northern
Illinois University after high school but I did not like
it so I came home after spring break. That next fall I started
classes at College
of DuPage, a junior college near my house. I graduated
from the honors
scholars program with high honors. I was also a member
of Phi Kappa Theta and listed in Who's Who Among American
Junior Colleges. I know this will not help me get a job but
I am proud of it.
I came to the University
of Missouri in 1996 and low and behold two years later
I graduated. Woo-Hoo! On May 9, 1998 I got my degree in Broadcast
Journalism. I also have a minor in English Literature.
Since
I transferred to Missouri as a Junior and I was living off
campus I thought I could go through Rush to make friends.
I am glad I did. I became a member of the Omicron
Chapter of Alpha
Phi. I made some very good friends while I was there and
I still keep in touch with some of them.
In September of 1996 I learned html and started to make my
student home page. In October I got a job with Information
and Access Technology Services as the Assistant Webmaster
for MU. While there I would create and update University web
pages with html.
In July 1997 I started to work at
KOMU-TV. I started with a general assignment shift and
worked my way to a franchise reporter. I did a weekly series
called Steppin' Out on a bimonthly basis. I would use Net
Objects Fusion to create pages for the KOMU web page. I also
learned how to produce newscasts.
Some time in March I also started to look for a job that was
not in the TV field. I was looking for something in the web
business and I found it. Right now I am creating web pages
and doing graphic design for Mortgage
Market Information Services and Interest.com.
It is not TV News but those skills are going to come in handy.
In
September of 2000 I accepted a job with AMI
Communications in Geneva, IL. I really like my job and the
people I work with. In October I bought a townhouse in Geneva.
It is new construction so I will not be moving until after June.
I
was asked to be the VP of Programs for the DuPage
Valley Alpha Phi Alumnae Chapter. I made the newsletter
for this year and updated the web site for this year.
I
was able to move into my townhouse in October 2001. I lived
there alone with my two cats until August 2002. It was at
that time Mark Sabatino moved in with me. Mark and I were
good friends in high school and kept in touch over the years.
He joined the Marines right after high school and was stationed
at Mirimar in San Diego. In October 2002 Mark asked me to
marry him. I said yes! We are planning our wedding for October
2003.
I
am getting my Master
of Arts in Public Relations and Advertising from DePaul
University and I started classes August 2002. It is a
new program and all the classes are at the Lincoln Park campus
so I take the train to the city one day a week.
I
am also an advisor for the Iota Eta Chapter of Alpha Phi at
DePaul.
